Superior's North Shore

dougschnabel

The North Shore beauty becomes even more spectacular in the fall! We made our way up for a few days to check out the fall colors. The change is a bit late this year, but still nice to see. Lake Superior is the worlds largest freshwater lake by surface area. We love the ruggedness of the North Shore as well as the great hikes in the Superior Natural Forest.

The first picture below is a river that is right by Lambs Resort, where we stayed. A great spot to work on some long exposure pictures! We never tire of seeing the Split Rock Lighthouse and it is always picturesque. The island below is close to Split Rock and we caught this late in the day during the "blue hour" for a fun picture.

We hiked the Oberg Mountain loop and also up to Carlton Peak, which passes through the Temperance River area. This is a fun 7 mile hike with a beautiful overlook at the end.

We made our Jeep Wrangler debut on this trip! We were able to get it tow ready the day before we left, so we were pretty excited to bring it along to wander about the North Shore area. Very fun to drive!!!

Kovu likes to own the dash when are parked and Kiara demonstrates her stress level (not) when we travel!

We are both corporately retired, but enjoy running a photography business together.  Doug is the primary photographer and Cindy a designer.  Cindy also does part time accounting work.

We enjoy traveling in our RV with our two Ragdoll cats (Kovu and Kiara) and look forward to sharing our travel, RV and photography experiences.
