Grand Canyon

dougschnabel

It's easy to see how many consider the Grand Canyon to be one of the seven wonders of the world! It really needs to be seen to be appreciated. At 277 miles long, 4 to 18 miles wide and up to 6,000 feet deep, no pictures can do it justice.

In the summertime, storms crop up frequently and unexpectedly. We witnessed a bolt of lightning right in front of us that scared the bejebes out of us! It was rumored to hit the building we were about to walk into. The storms end as fast as they appear, and 20 minutes later we were hiking the Rim trail to Yaki Point to watch the sunset.

Our time was all spent on a subset of the south rim. We didn't have the time to get to the north rim. Hikes to the bottom and back are 2 day trips and we understand it's easier to get to the bottom than back to the top!

We are both corporately retired, but enjoy running a photography business together.  Doug is the primary photographer and Cindy a designer.  Cindy also does part time accounting work.

We enjoy traveling in our RV with our two Ragdoll cats (Kovu and Kiara) and look forward to sharing our travel, RV and photography experiences.
